Former President Donald Trump appeared to try to emulate one of Harris’ own iconic debating moments against his former vice president Mike Pence in 2020 when she told him to stop interrupting her, in response to his effort to defend his record on security in Eastern Europe.
This came after Harris scolded Trump for his closeness with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
“Our NATO allies are so thankful that you are no longer president and that we understand the importance of the greatest military alliance the world has ever known, which is NATO,” said Harris.

“And what we have done to preserve the ability of [Ukrainian President] Zelenskyy and the Ukrainians to fight for their independence. Otherwise, Putin would be sitting in Kyiv with his eyes on the rest of Europe, starting with Poland. And why don’t you tell the 800,000 Polish-Americans right here in Pennsylvania how quickly you would give up, for the sake of favor, and what you think is a friendship with what is known to be a dictator who would eat you for lunch.”
At that point, moderator David Muir gave Trump, who kept trying to interrupt over his muted mic, a chance to respond.
“Putin would be sitting in Moscow and he wouldn’t have lost 300,000 men and women but he would have been sitting in Moscow,” said Trump.
That when Harris tried to interject.
“Quiet, please,” he said. “He would have been sitting in Moscow much happier than he is right now. But eventually, you know, he’s got a thing that other people don’t have. He’s got nuclear weapons. They don’t ever talk about that.”
