The nation said a proper farewell to former President Jimmy Carter during his funeral service in Washington D.C. on Thursday.

President Joe Biden, who declared Thursday a national day of mourning after Carter died Dec. 29 at age 100, delivered the eulogy.

After lying in state at the Capitol this week, Carter’s remains were taken to the Washington National Cathedral.

Following the funeral service, his remains are set to be taken to his hometown of Plains, Georgia for a private funeral service and interment Thursday night.
